Is a remake of Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines coming? A metal band’s statement has caused a stir.

There’s some interesting news for fans of older PC games, though it’s too early to be completely certain. PC Gamer Associate Editor Ted Litchfield reported on October 17, 2026, that a metal band has reportedly said thatVampire: The Masquerade – BloodlinesA remake is in the works. It’s a small thing, but it’s got longtime fans of the game quite excited.

what the hell happened?

The whole matter started on Reddit. On the Bloodlines subreddit, a user (Few_Interview8222) wrote that he was in Brooklyn, New York.GenitorturersI went to a show by a band called “VtMB.” According to me, mid-show, the band told the audience that a remake of “VtMB” was coming.

Now, the important thing. PC Gamer hasn’t found any other statements confirming this claim. Yes, it’s true that the band did perform at The Meadows in Brooklyn on October 15th as part of their tour, meaning the correct venue and date match. PC Gamer has contacted Activision, one of the game’s rights holders, and the band’s representatives. This story will be updated upon receipt of a response.

How does a metal band get news of the game?

It’s a valid question. Genitorturers is an industrial metal band formed in Orlando in 1986. They actually have a long-standing connection to Bloodlines. The background music in Los Angeles clubs and bars in that game was based on original songs from metal bands of that era. Genitorturers’ songLecher Bitch“The Last Round” was the theme of the game’s dive bar, where the Anarch faction of vampires hang out. The game’s main music was composed by Rik Schaffer.

This means the band is no stranger to the gaming world. So, it doesn’t seem completely absurd for them to say something like this.

What if the claim turns out to be false?

The author himself admitted that the news was thin. Many on Reddit suggested that the message might have been misheard or that the band had hinted at a previous incident.Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2It’s not uncommon for a loud concert to cause a loss of hearing or for the performer to mumble a line.

Another possibility is that a remake project may have been started and stalled behind the scenes, or has been moving between different parties. In such a case, those on the sidelines may be speaking based on secondhand information.

What if the claim turns out to be true?

Still, the authors are a bit cautious, and their concerns are understandable. According to them, they no longer readily trust any studio other than Nightdive. The recent Shogun 2 remaster controversy and the Deus Ex Remastered situation are examples of this.

Their choice is clear: a wild, weird, yet heartwarming PC game like Bloodlines would only be safe in the hands of Nightdive. They want Nightdive to be the home of renowned modders.Werner “Wesp5” SpahlAdd in the team that’s kept the game alive over the years with unofficial patches, and they deserve a fair compensation for that. A full remake would be even more challenging, as it’s hard to recreate the unique atmosphere and look that Troika created for the game.

Why is Bloodlines still special today?

For those who haven’t played the game, the author’s suggestion is interesting. He describes it as a “link” between the 2D Fallout and New Vegas, meaning Fallout-like, open-ended, player-reacting design, for the first time in 3D. There’s a reason for this: the game’s leads, Leonard Boyarsky and Jason Anderson, were among the senior executives on Fallout 1.

Instead of New Vegas’ open world, it features a relatively straightforward, yet flexible chain of zones. But its Y2K-era, gothic, and noir take on Los Angeles is considered one of the most spectacular worlds in RPG history. The game launched in 2004, making it 22 years old. Today, it’s available on Steam and GOG for around $20 and is often on sale.

Now what?

For now, this should be considered just a rumor. Neither Activision nor any studio has commented. But, like the author, we believe that the name of such an old, little-known, yet beloved game being mentioned at a metal concert is a funny thing in itself.

What do you think? Does Bloodlines need a remake, or should it be left with its flaws? Let us know in the comments.
