GTA 6 launch trailer out: slower pace, more story and character emphasis

Rockstar Games has finally released the launch trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6. The game releases on consoles on November 19th, and this trailer is a much different tone than the previous trailers that have come out. According to PC Gamer writer Andy Chalk, it feels more restrained, or rather, more focused.

What is different in this trailer from the previous one?

Until now, the GTA series has been known for its chaos and commotion. Previous trailers have also showcased this tone. This time, the picture is different. The author sees a greater emphasis on characters and story. According to him, it also has a cinematic feel, and it feels like watching the season finale of a Michael Mann series from a decade ago.

This means that this time Rockstar is promising not just fun and destruction but a serious crime drama.

What does the trailer tell the story?

According to the description accompanying the trailer, Jason and Lucia have always known the odds were against them. When a seemingly simple task goes awry, the two find themselves thrust into the darkest side of “the sunniest place in America.” They become caught in the middle of a criminal conspiracy spanning the state of Leonida, and must rely on each other more than ever to get out alive.

It’s clear that the relationship and trust between the two is at the heart of the story, and this could set the game apart from previous installments in the series.

New experiments in music too

The music selection is also interesting this time. The first two trailers used licensed songs. The first featured Tom Petty’s “Love Is a Long Road” and the second featured The Pointer Sisters’ “Hot Together.” This time, the trailer features a new track by Justice, the electronic duo also composing the score for GTA 6. The author loved the song, and the full version has been released. It features artists like Tame Impala, SZA, and King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard.

PC players still waiting

The console release is scheduled for November 19th, but there’s still no official announcement or release date for the PC version. It’s no doubt that a PC version will arrive, as Rockstar’s major games typically arrive on PC sooner or later.

Recently, a rumor circulated that the PC version could arrive in early 2027, just a few months after the console launch. The authors don’t believe this to be entirely accurate. They believe it’s best to keep expectations low for now. At one point, it seemed the game would be playable on PC on launch day, but a statement from Xbox’s Chief Strategy Officer dashed that hope.

What does this mean for fans?

Three things are clear from this trailer:

  • The release is now near. With the date of 19th November, the final phase of waiting has begun.
  • More trust in the story. The pairing of Jason and Lucia, and their mutual trust, seems to be the heart of the game.
  • A new look at an old identity.Justice’s music and serious tone show that Rockstar isn’t shying away from trying something new.

While the trailer doesn’t give a full picture of the game. The true picture will only be revealed when we get our hands on the game, this new glimpse of Leonida is enough to further fuel fans’ excitement.

It remains to be seen if Rockstar will comment on the PC version by November 19. We’ll bring you any new information as soon as it becomes available.
