GTA 6 PC Release Date Rumor: Could It Launch in Early 2027?
Table of Contents
The wait for Grand Theft Auto 6 has always been a bit long for PC gamers. Rockstar has tended to release consoles first, then PC years later. But now a new report has questioned this pattern. According to PC Gamer’s Andy Chalk, this claim is quite surprising, and he advises against getting too high expectations.

What does the report claim?
A report from GamesBeat says that GTA 6The first quarter of 2027, i.e. between January and MarchIt could launch on PC. If this turns out to be true, the PC version could be coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.after a maximum of four monthsIt will come in. The difference may be even smaller.
GamesBeat cited “four industry sources familiar with the studio’s plans” for its report. All of them asked not to be identified. There has been no comment from Rockstar yet, and GTA 6 hasn’t even been officially announced for PC.

Comparison with Rockstar’s past records
This claim is considered surprising because Rockstar’s history suggests otherwise. PC Gamer has listed the differences between console and PC releases of older games:
- GTA 3: 7 months
- Vice City: 7 months
- San Andreas: 8 months
- Bully:2 years
- GTA 4: 7 months
- GTA 5:1 year 6 months
- Red Dead Redemption 2:1 year
- Red Dead Redemption:14 years 5 months

Compared to these figures, a gap of four months or less seems very small. This is why Chalk predicted earlier this year that GTA 6 might beWon’t arrive on PC before November 2027, because “that’s how Rockstar works”.

Questions about timing
Chalk’s other argument is timing. The first quarter of 2027 would mean the game would arrive just after the holiday season, when most people are already busy spending. A significant portion of gamers’ holiday spending this year is expected to be on the console launch of GTA 6. Asking them to buy the same game again so soon after could be off-putting to many.
Rockstar has often been accused of “double dipping,” reselling the same game on different platforms. But according to Chalk, releasing a PC version so close to the console release will be frustrating for those who want the freedom and power of PC but don’t want to wait that long.
Will people wait for the PC version?
This question is also important for Rockstar and Take-Two. If the PC version’s release date is indeed this close, many players may decide to hold off on purchasing the console version. This could impact launch sales.
Many people on social media are already saying that if the PC version is coming so soon, they’ll wait. Chalk believes this sentiment may be more widespread than it appears, given GTA 6’s high price tag. The Premium Edition, which includes exclusive content,100 dollarsBuying such an expensive game multiple times isn’t as easy a decision as it was with previous GTA releases.
What to look forward to?
The very first glance9 NovemberBut the news will remain when Take-Two’s next quarterly financial report is due. According to Chalk, the company may choose this time to confirm a PC release, though that’s only a possibility. Until then, it’s all in the realm of rumors.
Andy Chalk himself has clearly stated that they’re taking this whole matter with a “pinch of salt” and have even asked Rockstar for a response. We’d advise the same. If you’re a PC gamer, it’s okay to be hopeful, but don’t base your plans on this report until Rockstar or Take-Two say something themselves.
