What did Barone say?
According to Barone, Haunted Chocolatier is still what they call”Town Game”That is, a game centered around a town. But this time, it’s more of a character.Action RPGThe game will focus on adventure, finding gear, and becoming more powerful. There will also be monsters and boss fights.
His most interesting line was that this game“Stardew Valley is for people who go into the mines.”, and honestly, they do the same themselves.

Why is this change special?
In Stardew Valley, most players grow crops, raise animals, and befriend villagers. But the game also features mines, where monsters can be fought and minerals can be mined. This is where many players spend the most time. Barone is referring to this section, and it seems that this will be the focus of Haunted Chocolatier.
PC Gamer staff writer Harvey Randall also commented on the news. He describes himself as a fan of action RPGs. While he enjoys town management games, he’s not someone who plays them for long periods of time. Each new inning of Stardew Valley finds him trying to figure out the most efficient way to build the Community Center, and the pressure becomes a tense battle. For him, a town game that focuses more on combat, rather than managing spreadsheets and calendars, is a great idea.

Barone is under pressure too
Randall raised another point. There’s a huge difference between the basic design philosophy of an action RPG and that of a cute, relaxing farming sim. This is something Barone hasn’t done in this way before. And it seems he’s a little concerned about it.
In an interview with GQ, Barone said that figuring out the next step after Stardew Valley has been a struggle. He wants to recapture the feeling he had when he created Stardew. Back then, there was no audience and no precedent. Now, everyone’s eyes are on him, and if he doesn’t do things a certain way, he could disappoint millions.
Randall believes that being aware that mistakes can happen is half the battle. Although he added, on a lighter note, that torturing yourself so much might be a bit much.

How far has development reached?
PC Gamer mentions a related story, with the headline stating that Barone has been developing Haunted Chocolatier in recent months.”Very productive”and working on it is what excites and motivates him the most. This article doesn’t mention a release date or platform, so it’s not appropriate to comment on those matters at this time.
Fan expectations are sky-high following the success of Stardew Valley, and Barone’s pivot to an action RPG is a risky but exciting move. For players who’ve always enjoyed descending into mines, battling monsters and gathering new weapons, this game could be a treat. And for those who simply crave the comforts of farming and relationships, it remains to be seen how much room the game has for them.
