Like most Arc Raiders players, you’ve probably dismissed furniture as merely decorative in the new Outpost system. But a recent report from PC Gamer proves that this assumption is wrong. Building furniture unlocks hundreds of new storage slots in your Outpost, which is a welcome news for anyone whose stash is always overflowing.

A new outpost arrives with the Frozen Trail update.
The Frozen Trail update added a personal outpost system to Arc Raiders. This is a place you can decorate and customize as your “home.” Reporter Sean Martin admitted that initially, his focus was on upgrading the outpost, building rooms, and collecting essential items like the Emperor Modulator and Frigate Inductor. He wanted to use these to level up his Gunsmith and Research Bench, so he could acquire new weapon upgrades like Explosive Bullets and Incendiary Shells. He had overlooked the furniture part, considering it merely decoration. Later, he realized that it wasn’t just for show.

How does the furniture path open?

Unlocking it isn’t difficult. According to the report, you’ll need to complete a project called “Sheltered Retreat,” which requires the following steps:
- Reach level 18 and start the project.
- Snap a picture of the Ruined Homestead.
- Donate some essential materials, including planks and sheet metal.
- Damage any flying ARCs in the last phase.
Once you’re done, you can “move in.” Recycling the boxes under the blankets there gives you planks, which you can use to start building furniture.

How does storage work?
Choose an empty furniture slot in your main outpost, or create a new room and place furniture there. Each piece of furniture will display the number of slots it will occupy in the menu. The usage process is straightforward:
- Right-click on the furniture and select “Decorate” and place your items on it.
- Wall-mounted shelves and gun racks are available, as are standing furniture.
- Like Stash, entire item stacks can be stored here.
- To return everything to the stash, right-click the furniture and select “clear all attached items.”
This means weapons, extra gear, and crafting supplies can all be neatly organized in your outpost, reducing the burden on the stash.
Where can I find furniture blueprints?
More furniture requires blueprints, which are found in residential areas on the map. Sean Martin found a large number of blueprints in the Old Town area of Pendola Pass. Filling all three rooms of your outpost with furniture will make a significant difference in storage.

A warning: once created, it will not change.
One thing is important to keep in mind. Currently, the rooms and layout of an outpost cannot be changed once they are built. Therefore, before building rooms, think carefully about which room will be used for what purpose, otherwise you may regret it later.
To be honest, inventory space has always been a headache for extraction shooter players. Half the time is spent agonizing over what to keep and what to sell after each raid. In such a situation, a feature that seems like mere “decoration” but actually increases storage is truly a blessing. If you’ve neglected furniture until now, give it a try next time you visit an outpost. A few planks and a little effort can significantly lighten your stash.
